My stay at Au Violon was quite memorable, mainly due to its unique history as a former women's prison, which gives the hotel a lot of character. The room was small but clean and comfortable, perfect for an overnight stay. I found the location ideal, allowing easy exploration of beautiful Basel. The dining experience was very pleasant, especially with the outdoor seating at the Brasserie, but I did wish for more variety at breakfast. Overall, it's great value for money, but there are no tea or coffee facilities in the room, which is a bit of a letdown.
